(League Plate Semi Final)

Haverhill faced Kempston in the semi final of the League Plate at Godmanchester this week.

This was a very evenly matched game with Haverhill clawing their way back from being behind three times.

Kempston opened the scoring after Haverhill had dominated the first 10 minutes of play, S Dayus giving defender Zoe Klimcke the slip to net at the near post.

Haverhill equalised before the break, Sian Randall beating the defender for pace to score.

The second half was a real end to end battle with both teams creating chances, Randall, Anderson and Chambers all firing off target.

Kempston took the lead again in the 55th minute, N Bradbury claiming a goal which seemed to have rebounded off a Haverhill defender.

Haverhill equalised almost from the kick off when player of the match Randall saw the 'keeper off her line and lobbed her from 25 yards out.

Haverhill could have taken the lead through a chance from Lori Holmes, who was shocked to find herself with the ball in space after only just coming on the pitch, but her shot went straight to the 'keeper.

Kempston again went ahead, Dayus scoring her second of the match before Haverhill replied through a Louise Anderson goal before Kempston snatched the winner with minutes left, C Milazzo running through the Haverhill defence to score.
