| CRIMINAL JUSTICE UNIT | 0-3 | HAVERHILL ROVERS LADIES |
Rovers travelled to Ipswich looking for, on paper, an easy win, but, once again, CJU made it difficult for Haverhill.
The hosts kept Rovers in their own half for the first 5 minutes and, overall, had the better of the first half play.
Rovers should have taken the lead on 20 minutes, Sian Randall shooting wide of the advancing keeper. Michelle Onley, up front, caused the CJUdefence some problems but failed to convert her chances.
With 35 minutes played Haverhill were forced to make a substitution after Emma Chambers pulled a muscle and Rachel Mann took her place. The pace of the game changed almost immediately as Mann's pace was too much for the opposition.
Rachel Linsdell came on to replace Onley in a tactical change and the two Rachels linked together passes to create more Haverhill chances before the break, although the score remained 0-0 at half time.
The second half saw Haverhill take control of the game from the kick off. With her pacey run Rachel Mann converted Stacey Spiers' cross to give the visitors the lead.
From the kick off Haverhill were 2-0 up, Aimee Rawlings driving the ball low into the corner of the net.
For the next 20 minutes Rovers bombarded the CJU goal with 3 terrific shots from Spiers either wide or over the bar and Rachel Linsdell, Louise Anderson and Sian Randall all going close.
Haverhill were awarded a penalty for handball but the 'keeper stretched to make a great save from Pavlina Beasley.
Haverhill made it 3-0 with a cheeky goal from Mann, who crossed the ball in to the penalty area before t hit the post and trickled into the net to put Haverhill second in the league and keep their promotion hopes alive.
This was a great sporting game by both teams and referreed in the same manner for a change !
Thanks to A&G Home Improvements and Haverhill Rovers for their continued support.
