| STANWAY ROVERS LADIES | 0-1 | HAVERHILL ROVERS LADIES |
Haverhill Rovers Ladies travelled to Stanway on Sunday needing a win to keep their promotion hopes alive.
After the team found there were no changing facilities and had to get changed in cars a late kick off was unavoidable. but this did not dampen Haverhill's enthusiasm as the visitors would have liked.
The first half was very evenly matched with both teams creating chances but neither taking the lead, Haverhill's best chance going to Sian Randall who, with only the 'keeper to beat, shot straight into her arms. Stanway had two clear unmarked headers from corners but saw both go high and wide.
The second half was just as tough as the first but Haverhill took the upper hand midway through the half when Rachel Mann twice found herself with just the 'keeper to beat but failed to hit the target.
Bekki Smith also failed to convert when she was clattered by the 'keeper when going for a header from a corner kick.
Sian Randall gave Haverhill the lead with 5 minutes left, Rachel Mann again finding herself in space on the right and losing her marker, sub Michelle Onley putting off an advancing defender and Sian Randall hitting home.
Rovers must now win their remaining twogames to gain promotion.
Rovers wish to thank A&G Home Improvements and Haverhill Rovers for their continued support.
