| BOTTISHAM | 0-5 | HAVERHILL ROVERS GIRLS (U13s) |
(from Haverhill manager Steve Hull)
Haverhill Rovers Girls started their first game of the season with a trip to Bottisham, now playing 11 a side.
Katy Kingsbury made her debut and the team welcomed back Molly Mcfall, who was injured for the last part of last season.
Haverhill attack straight from the kick off with Stacey Roper, Holly Benjamin and Katie Schulz causing all sorts of problems to the Bottisham defence. Two minutes into the game Haverhill were awarded a free kick outside the Bottisham area when Holly was fouled, Katie curling the ball into the far corner to make it 1-0.
Ten minutes later Katie ran past the Bottisham defence and powered the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
Bottisham did try at the other end but Alisha Jenkins, Jessica Fox, Rachel Jeffs and young Katy in defence snuffed out any sort of attack; Evey Richardson in goal was also always ready when the ball bounced over the defence.
Katie made it 3-0 before half time to complete her hat trick.
In the second half Bottisham tried to get back in to the game but the Haverhill midfield of Amy Hull, Charlotte Westrope, Leah Goreham and Molly chased everything.
Stacey got on to the score sheet with a well worked goal when Molly broke up an attack and passed to Charlotte, who sent Katie through; she saw Stacey in the area and sent the ball across for a tap in to make it 4-0.
Katie got her fourth when the goalkeeper kicked the ball out straight to her and she ran into the area and slotted the ball home; This made it 5-0 and that's how it stayed.
A brilliant performance from all the girls.
