HAVERHILL ROVERS GIRLS (U12s)
4-1
ISLEHAM UNITED YOUTH

(from manager Steve Hull)

On a cold morning Haverhill Rovers Girls played Isleham.

Haverhill started to attack the Isleham goal right from the start but found the Isleham 'keeper in top form, saving well from the many chances of the Haverhill forwards, Stacey Roper, Chloe Ellis and Katie Schulz, but, about 10 minutes into the game, Haverhill went 1-0 up; Stacey Roper got free of her marker and shot at goal, the 'keeper getting a hand to the ball but the ball still ending up in the net.

Isleham tried to get back in the game but found Melissa Pryke in top form, as she broke up most of the attack, and Charlotte Westrope helping out to in defence.

Katie Schulz then got on to the score sheet with a powerful run and cross shot which found the net.

Isleham came back at Haverhill with Amy Hull, Rachel Jeffs and Alisha Jenkins battling hard to stop Isleham getting near the Haverhill goal to make the half time score 2-0.

In the second half Isleham started the better team as they made a few changes and had a shot that Evey Richardson brilliantly tipped over the bar.

Isleham did get a goal back 2 minutes later and, with Isleham looking for a second goal, Haverhill brought on subs with Abby Power coming on with her pace and Leanne Ward and Anoushka King to break up the Isleham play.

Haverhill started to get back on top when a quick throw in from Stacey Roper found Katie Schulz, who ran at goal and scored with her shot from outside the area.

Haverhill kept switching players around with the sub on, sub off rule as some players were picking up injuries from tough tackling Isleham players. Then, Haverhill captain Stacey Roper's quick thinking got the ball from an Isleham goal kick and saw the 'keeper on the wrong side of the goal; quick as a flash, she hit a low shot to the other side of the keeper from 20 yards and in to the net to make the score 4-1.

That was how the game finished. All the girls played fantastic and I was very proud of them.
