BISHOP'S STORTFORD COMMUNITY
2-2
HAVERHILL ROVERS GIRLS (U12s)

On a sunny morning Haverhill Rovers Girls travelled to Bishop's Stortford, and this would be a harder game than the last three they had won.

From the start 's Stortford attacked the Haverhill goal but found Melissa Pryke on top form, breaking most of the attacks up, and Charlotte Westrope on the left side clearing her line; Amy Hull, in midfield, did her best to stop Stortford's tall midfield player setting up her forwards but, 16 minutes into the game, Stortford scored from the edge of the area and keeper Evey Richardson had no chance as the score became 1-0.

This seemed to kick start Haverhill as Stacey Roper, Chloe Ellis and Katie Schulz all had good chances but found the Stortford 'keeper saving everything.

Haverhill did finally score when a shot from Schulz was palmed away and Roper, quick a as flash, tapped the ball in to make it 1-1.

Haverhill brought some substitutes on as the girls were getting tired and hot; Rachel Jeffs, Alisha Jenkins and Abby Power carried on what the other girls were doing with Jeffs doing a brilliant job following Stortford's tall midfield player so, at half time, the score was 1-1.

In the second half Haverhill started the better of the two teams with Power causing problems with her pace and, 10 minutes into the half, Haverhill took a deserved lead, a good cross from the left from Ellis finding Power, who smashed the ball into the roof of the net to score her first goal for the club and make it 1-2.

Haverhill made a few more changes and brought on Leanne Ward and Anoushka King as Stortford were pushing for an equaliser. Richardson made some great saves to keep Haverhill's lead but a powerful run from a Stortford player set up one of her forwards to make it 2-2.

Both teams went for the win in the last five minutes, Haverhill with most of the chances, but the Stortford 'keeper saved them all so the final score was 2-2.

This was a brillant result for Haverhill as Stortford are one of the strongest teams in our league and, with today's performance, we were the much better and the girls were just fantastic.
