| HAVERHILL ROVERS LADIES | 3-2 | PETERBOROUGH UNITED LADIES |
Haverhill's first game in the Eastern Region League Premier Division ended with victory against a Peterborough side that finished 2nd in the division last season.
The hosts had new signings Katie Shorter (previously with Ipswich Town) and Shelley Farr (Cambridge United and Peterborough United) and had some good early pressure rewarded when they took the lead after Rachael Lindsall's shot from the edge of the area found the bottom corner of the net.
Some good saves by Stacey Spiers kept Haverhill ahead, Farr marking her debut with two good goals to put her side 3-0 up at the break, her first coming with a 30 yard strike into the top corner and her second from a set piece.
Peterborough came out a different side in the second half and quickly pegged a goal back and, with Charlotte Halls denying them goals with some last ditch tackles, they made the score 3-2 with twenty minutes to go to set up a tense finish.
In the last minute of the game Spiers came to Haverhill's rescue with a superb save in a one-on-one situation that saw her side take all three points.
Manager Peter Betts also released news that Amanda Everett would be signing from Ipswich Town in time for next week's home match against Barking.
