WROXHAM RESERVES
1-0
HAVERHILL ROVERS RESERVES

It proved to be a game too far for Haverhill as they lost 1-0 to Wroxham.

The first half began very edgy with neither side creating many chances, a couple of wayward efforts from Wroxham and a half chance for Paul Jenkin being the pick of the first half an hour; then, on 35 minutes, the fuse became lit for a an ill tempered affair, the Wroxham captain head butting Ben Cowling in full view of the referee and being shown a red card.

Haverhill came out for the second half without the injured Neil Hammond, but still kept good shape and marshalled the 10 men of Wroxham well and it was Haverhill who should have taken the lead on the 70 minute mark, Lee Sharp's low cross finding Richard Heller in the box but his shot from 12 yards was blocked when it looked certain to be going in.

Wroxham started to apply pressure and the sucker punch came in the 88th minute, a low weak shot from 12 yards squirming its way under the body of Tom Edwards in the Haverhill goal and into the bottom corner. This left Haverhill with very little time to reply and they fell to their first defeat since 24th November 2007.

All in all it was a brave attempt by Haverhill against a Wroxham side with 5 first team squad players, but it has to be said that Wroxham's all round discipline and Hospitality left a lot to be desired and, on another night in another place, it would have been a very different score line.
