Haverhill notched up their first point in three weeks against a Tiptree side that came close on occasions but were not able to add to their controversial first half penalty.

The hosts had a lucky escape on 28 minutes when Nathan Clarke missed a pull back by Tommy English and Lee Townrow, just 5 yards from goal, saw his effort hit the outstretched leg of home midfielder Stuart Kingham, bounce on to his heel and then loop over the Haverhill bar.

They did net after 37 minutes when the ball was slide to Tiptree's Jack Wignall; goalkeeper Ed Campbell came out to smother the ball legitimately, Wignall went down from his challenge and, after his effort was off target, the referee indicate for a spot kick, which English converted.

Moments later Tiptree's Neil Shade appeared to handle as Marc Abbott tried to go past him but no penalty was awarded to the home side.

The equaliser came on 54 minutes from a Jamie Challis corner, Townrow not controlling the ball well and Sam Holmes poking the ball over the goal line.

Townrow also hit the outside of the base of the post with a 30 yard set piece before the final whistle.
