HAVERHILL ROVERS | 4-2 | ELY CITY |
Haverhill's first home game in over five weeks brought dividends with their first victory over the same period.
All the goals in the second half, the first for the hosts coming after 51 minutes through Martin Westcott when he was first to react after Russell Flitton hit his own bar from a Jamie Challis corner.
A 17 minute hat trick by Shaun Banham saw Haverhill take a 4-0 lead; his first came after 62 minutes when he capitalised on a loose ball to touch it past goalkeeper Keiron Badcock and into the unguarded net before his close range diving header to meet a Challis cross in the 76th minute.
Three minutes later he scored his third from the penalty spot after a foul on Sam Holmes.
An Ely comeback in the last five minutes made it interesting, substitute Dale Archer arrowing a shot past Ed Campbell and Tony Brown putting a header across goal in on the goal line two minutes later sadly coming too late for the visitors.
