Haverhill suffered their first pre-season defeat thanks to a slightly fortuitous goal in the closing stages of this match.

Both sides came close in the opening period, Royston firing inches wide of the far upright after a quarter of an hour and a Lee Salmons header from a cross by Harry Halls went just wide of goal with the away goalkeeper beaten.

Halls himself saw his 25 yard not dip quite early enough to go under the cross bar a quarter of an hour from the end, Royston having the better chances of the second half and netting in the 89th minute after a free kick from the right was crossed into the box but found itself past everyone, including goalkeeper Shaun Greygoose, and into the Haverhill net.

ROVERS : Shaun Greygoose, Stuart Kingham, Sam Holmes, Paul Abbott, Gareth Thomas, Harry Halls, Jamie Challis, Marcus Hunt, Louis Harper, Lee Salmons, Shaun Banham, John Winter, Brad Hickman, Cody Frazier, Jack Jones.
