HAVERHILL ROVERS | 0-3 | NEEDHAM MARKET |
Needham moved up to third place with their fourth league win on the bounce to leave Haverhill in an unenviable position as they battle against relegation.
The first half of this match was goal less, the best chance of the period coming when home defender Neil Hammond cleared off the line after Kevin Horlock's effort had beaten goalkeeper Jamie Smith.
The half time team talk did wonders for the away side and, after Daniel Thrower hit the outside of the upright within a minute of the restart, Tommy Smith have his side the lead after 47 minutes when he thumped the ball into the bottom left corner after a strong run that left J Smith stranded.
Martin Westcott had a chance to equalise for the hosts, but he was unable to get his shot from Jamie Challis' cross on target, Needham securing their win when T Smith grabbed his second with a close range volley into the near top right corner after 64 minutes before he slipped the ball square to Horlock for him to score the final goal 5 minutes later.
Louis Harper also had a 20 yard volley thump against the face of the Needham bar on the stroke of full time.
