DEREHAM TOWN
2-1
HAVERHILL ROVERS

Dereham moved up to 4th place in the table with their first win in 5 games that sent Haverhill to their first defeat in 7.

After Martin Westcott had a header cleared off the Dereham line by Daniel Cullington and Robbie Harris had his effort cleared off the Haverhill line Harris put the hosts ahead in the 36th minute, Nicky Howell laying the ball forward and Harris making space of his shot on the edge of the area that curled into the bottom right corner.

Away goalkeeper Arron Benstead came to his side's rescue in the second half, making a string of saves before he was eventually beaten after 75 minutes, Craig Terrington putting the ball in and Haverhill's Adam Ben-Saud diverting it into his own net.

What proved to be a consolation goal for the travellers came ten minutes later following a cross by Wayne Goddard, Marcus Hunt getting ahead of goalkeeper Shaun Marshall to head the ball into the net and set up a tense finish to the match.

HAVERHILL ROVERS RESERVES
7-0
NEEDHAM MARKET RESERVES

It was a case of "men against boys" at the Croft as Haverhill Rovers Reserves scored seven on their way to the next round of the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.

With good performances from all the players on show Haverhill simply outclassed their younger opposition and created numerous scoring opportunities, with goals coming from six different players.

Paul Jenkin opened the scoring in the 9th minute after turning and shooting from the right hand edge of the penalty area and, with Cody Frazier running rampant down the left wing, further chances for captain Ben Cowling and Harry Halls were created but missed.

Cowling doubled the lead after 24 minutes with a 20 yard shot which took a slight deflection and looped over the Needham 'keeper's head; Jamie Challis made it three with a fine left footed strike from well outside the penalty area just two minutes later.

There was further fine interplay between the Haverhill attackers, creating chances for Lee Sharp and Frazier before Ben Cowling raced across two defenders on the edge of the penalty area and crossed for Halls to finish, making the score 4-0 at half time.

Early in the second half Jenkin hit the post before Sharp was sent through to round the 'keeper and calmly slot home to take the total to five.

In the 78th minute Halls scored his second after a layoff from Jenkin and the scoring was completed in the 89th minute by substitute Lee Hurkett, who hammered home a cross from Gareth Thomas.

There was still time for Halls to score his hat trick, but he fired over when only having the 'keeper to beat.

Manager Peter Betts and his team will wait with interest to see who they draw in the quarter finals, but with the confidence of 17 goals scored in the first three rounds they should fear no-one.
