HARWICH & PARKESTON RESERVES
0-2
HAVERHILL ROVERS RESERVES

Haverhill played their third game in six days on Valentines night against a Harwich side that had previously beaten them twice this season in their League cup group back in September.

However, it became clear after the opening exchanges that Haverhill are playing with confidence at the moment, and they had the better of the opening period of the first half with both Lee Sharp and Ryan Kent going close when perhaps they should have done better.

On the half hour mark the deadlock was broken and Haverhill took a 1-0 lead, a great dinked cross from Jamie Challis from the left side of the penalty area found Ben Cowling unmarked and he looped his header superbly over the Harwich keeper from ten yards out.

The second half began in a similar manner to the first; Harwich were trying hard but, in all honesty, never looked like troubling Tom Edwards in the Haverhill goal, and it was only a matter of time before Haverhill increased the lead as they continued to apply pressure; then, with 75 minutes on the clock, the killer goal came; substitute Richard Heller was fouled on the bye line and, from Sharp's dangerous low free kick, Cowling's shot was cleared off the line but Gareth Thomas was there to smash the rebound into the roof of the net from six yards.

From then on the result was never in danger and it was another deserved three points for Haverhill, sending them four points clear at the top of the table.
