LOWESTOFT TOWN
1-2
HAVERHILL ROVERS

Haverhill completed the double over their Suffolk opponents to record their fourth win in five matches.

The away side had most of the opening period, Adam Ben-Saud having a header cleared off the line by Carl Poppy and an effort ruled out for offside, before they took the lead after 27 minutes from a Jamie Thurlbourne corner, the ball going to the back post for Gareth Thomas to head into the roof of the net from close range.

The defining moment of the game came after 39 minutes when, following another corner by Thurlbourne, Marcus Hunt was elbowed in the head by Russell Stock; Stock received a red card for his actions, reducing Lowestoft to ten men, and Hunt netted the penalty, which just managed to get past diving goalkeeper Andrew Reynolds.

Lowestoft came out on top at the start of the second half and deservedly pulled a goal back after 57 minutes, Jamie Godbold cutting the ball back from the left bye line and Poppy running in to put a first time shot past 'keeper Arron Benstead.

The hosts were unphased by their numerical disadvantage but were unable to create a decent enough effort to grab an equaliser.
