| HAVERHILL ROVERS LADIES | 5-1 | WOODBRIDGE TOWN LADIES |
With Woodbridge coming into this match as firm favourites it was a brave performance from the hosts that saw them progress to the next round of the F.A. Cup, a home tie against Sophlogic Ladies or Cambridge University on 24th September their prize thanks to goals from Bekki Smith, Katie Shorter, Louise Anderson, Rachel Mann and Amanda Everett.
This match also meant that the home side have gone an entire year undefeated at home, with them putting on a display where they were "individually brilliant" according to manager Peter Betts.
With their opponents not having conceded a goal in the league this season it looked bad for Haverhill when, after Sian Randall had created two early chances, she had to leave the field due to injury just five minutes in, Smith taking her place and, after Anderson had an effort saved, Smith connected with a ball over the top to put a 25 yard volley into the Woodbridge net after a quarter of an hour.
A cross by Farr allowed Shorter to head the ball in to give Haverhill a 2-0 lead into the half time break.
With Anderson again being denied by the Woodbridge 'keeper she eventually got her reward in the second period when she put in a challenge after a poor backpass and got there ahead of the shot stopper to put her side 3-0 up.
Anderson then turned provider, her through ball allowing Rachel Mann to run in and despatch the ball into the bottom corner for the hosts' fourth goal.
Haverhill goalkeeper Stacey Spiers parried a cross from the right only for the rebound to be tucked away to pull Woodbridge back to 4-1 down, some good work from Anderson ending with Everett smashing the ball in at the back post to cap a fine victory against the odds.
It was also announced that impressive midfielder Katie Shorter had been selected for the Suffolk Ladies representative side for their next match.
