Haverhill were denied a victory over previous manager Richard Carter's new club as an 82nd minute strike by Michael Brothers cancelled out a first half free kick by Marc Abbott in this friendly.

Wivenhoe hit the bar in the opening 2 minutes and Louie Farrington had a shot cleared off the Wivenhoe line before Abbott gave Haverhill the lead after 39 minutes, his 25 yard free kick misjudged by the home goalkeeper and the ball bouncing in over his outstretched hands by the bottom left hand corner of the net.

The hosts seemed more active in the second period but were unable to break down their opponents until a stray pass across his own area by Marcus Hunt gifted them an equaliser, Brothers seizing on the opportunity to lob goalkeeper Arron Benstead from outside the area.

A shot by Dan Pilcher was also palmed behind the home goal in the closing stages.
