CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS | 2-3 | HAVERHILL ROVERS RESERVES |
Haverhill continued their good pre-season form as they overcame an impressive CUP side with help via a brace from striker Brad Hickman.
Hickman netted his and his side's first after 21 minutes when Cody Frazier slipped the ball in to him to shoot across the goalkeeper and into the far bottom left corner.
The away side were lucky to go in to the break ahead, however, defender Craig Smith conceding a penalty two minutes before the break but goalkeeper Shaun Greygoose was able to push the spot kick away from trouble.
CUP equalised six minutes into the second half following some miscommunication between defender Tom Kirk and replacement goalie Matt Morrison, winger Ryan Kent latching on to a loose ball in the 79th minute before applying a cool finish around the home 'keeper to regain his side's lead.
The hosts equalised once more within 60 seconds as Morrison allowed a powerful strike to go through his hands and drop over the goal line and in.
Hickman would not be denied, however, and he thumped a 20 yard free kick that he had won past the wall and the stationary goalkeeper six minutes from time to give his side the win.
