HAVERHILL ROVERS | 0-2 | LEISTON |
Haverhill's season ended with defeat to their fellow Suffolk opponents in a game where they probably deserved to get at least a point.
Their cause wasn't helped when centre back Craig Smith left the game with a lump under his eye after a stray elbow by David Head after 23 minutes, Leiston going ahead a minute into added time at the end of the first half when Stuart Boardley curled a 25 yard free kick centre of goal into the bottom right corner, home goalkeeper Ed Campbell getting a touch to the ball but being unable to turn it around the upright.
The hosts then had several chances to equalise, away 'keeper Jamie Stannard coming to their rescue with saves to deny Ryan Kent and Shaun Banham, the latter on four different occasions, before Leiston netted their second two minutes into added time at the end of the game, substitute Kelsey Trotter feeding fellow sub Lee McGlone, seemingly in an offside position, who cut the ball back from the bye line for Luke Eagle to side foot the ball home.
