IPSWICH WANDERERS
2-2
HAVERHILL ROVERS

A Haverhill dominated opening period, that only saw a single goal come there way, was quickly cancelled out in the second period of this match, the away side regaining the lead late on only for the hosts to equalise in stoppage time.

Russell Bull scored the opener after 34 minutes, Colin Vowden running on to Lee Wilson's chip to the left of goal and side footing the ball across goal, Bull running to net first time without missing a beat and past 'keeper Gary Hammond.

The equaliser came two minutes after the break, Haverhill's Jamie Thurlbourne being caught in possession and the ball being crossed in by Darius Laws, Lee McGlone looping his header into the bottom right corner away from goalkeeper Arron Benstead's reach.

The travellers took the lead for the second time in the 79th minute after Bull did well on the right before cutting the ball back for Nick Impey to score.

The final equaliser came two minutes into added time, the ball being chipped into the Haverhill area and away defender Marcus Hunt back heading the ball into the path of substitute Sean Pugh, whose first time effort was hit sweetly and into the far right bottom corner past a full stretch Benstead.

HAVERHILL ROVERS RESERVES
1-3
AFC SUDBURY RESERVES

Haverhill's title hopes suffered a blow at the Croft on Saturday when an under strength team were beaten 3-1 by opponents they had beaten 4-0 the previous week.

With Cody Frazier, Ryan Holder and Richard Heller all on duty with the first team and skipper Neil Hammond sidelined with an injured foot, manager Peter Betts elected to start the game with only three recognized defenders; this was to prove costly following an injury to Lee Hurkitt early in the first half.

By this time Paul Jenkin had already had a goal disallowed for off side following a flick on from Lee Sharp.

However, while Hurkitt was unsuccessfully attempting to run off his injury, Sudbury struck twice in five minutes. Steve Joyce opened the scoring in the 36th minute after good work on the Haverhill right; goalkeeper Tom Edwards made a fine save from Danny Stokes, but Joyce was there to follow in the rebound.

Four minutes later Stokes broke away and volleyed a loose ball past Edwards to double the Sudbury lead.

The introduction of Paul Shaw, just back from injury himself, could do little to stem the Sudbury tide and, twenty minutes after the break, Stokes collected a cross from the left and drilled the ball past an exposed Edwards to make the score 3-0.

Jenkin latched onto a through ball to reduce the deficit to 3-1 with 15 minutes left, but it was too little too late for Rovers, who go into Saturday's Suffolk Reserve Cup Semi Final on the back of two defeats.
